Yes Minister!

Minister for Rural Affairs, and regular Western Mail columnist, Elin Jones paid Really Welsh a flying visit this week, as she trail blazed her new Farming policy prior to its official launch in the Senedd later on in the week.

The Minister praised Really Welsh for “foresight” and “vision” in launching what she described as a “vibrant and exciting brand”, and chatted to Nick, Richard and I about issues facing farming in Wales and what they had done to re-introduce Welsh produce crops back into North & South Wales under the Really Welsh banner.

After black coffee, and tour of the farm site, the Minster took a ride out to see the start of the Cauliflower planting season at Monknash overlooking the Bristol Channel – then formed part of the bizarre spectacle as she posed with Andy and Carwen, our Really Welsh leek – who had missed the note on the last minute venue change, and had to run across a ploughed field to catch up, as was very nearly leek soup by the time he posed with our elected dignitaries’.

For more information on the Minister, try Tuesday’s Western Mail Farming section, she normally get top billing, or Gwlad, the Agricultural & Rural Affairs magazine, of which Ms Jones normally has a starring role.

For more information on Carwen, try our on line diary, and discover where he’s going to turn up this summer… no jokes about ploughed fields please!
