Vive la Really Welsh
You may have noticed that it's been just a little bit cold here in Wales over the last few days, in fact it's been f-f f-freezing...and our much discussed Gulf Stream, has for the moment at least given up on us!
...And while we can all wrap up warm and stay in doors, our cauliflowers can't, and for the time being they are staying put, and not growing.
With such cold temperatures over the past week - after all that rain at the start of the month, the ground has frozen solid, and while we've got cauliflowers, they are just too small, and arn't reaching the size cauliflowers that you usually buy from us.
So, to ensure that you can pick up a cauliflower for Christmas we have had to call on our friends over the water in France to help us out little..... but before you get cross, we've made sure that every cauli that has come over matches the size and quality that we hope you've come to expect from our corner of Wales.
Belive me, we''ve had to go to huge lengths to get the sort of quality that only Really Welsh normally deliver, unlike those little English ones that would otherwise flood in if we hadn't taken this drastic step (they really are quite small - we've checked!)
With warmer (wet) weather on the way for this weekend, we expect to start cutting Really Welsh cauliflower again very soon and will be getting them back onto the supermarket shelves before you've finished off the Christmas pud!
- oh - and just to be sure that no one feels we are cheating, we made our normal bags a different colour - with an apology form all of us here - in the frozen lands of Llantwit Major.
Merry Christmas
