Off his trolley

Ever been shopping only to find the isles crammed with local producers keen to let you sample their products right there in the store? No? well you can’t have been at Tesco’s flagship Talbot Green store on Wednesday then, where the Really Welsh team were meeting shoppers and getting them to sample our produce for nothing.

Raw cauliflower not your thing? Well with a range of dips on offer, we were surprised & delighted by the 100’s of cauliflower samples tested throughout the day, and really enjoyed the opportunity to meet customers all keen to talk about what they want to see grown here in Wales, as well as listen to their views on Really Welsh and what we do.

We thought a whole day of sampling might be more interesting if we took Carwen along too however, and he duly delighted the younger shoppers, who probably weren’t expecting to find a giant walking leek in the produce isle.

Carwen & Richard then undertook a rather more serious exercise, taking an empty trolley, they tried to fill it with as many Welsh produced items as they could find… and they didn’t do badly either.

(Really Welsh, at the heart of the shop!) Starting of course with Really Welsh Cauliflower & Leeks, adding Calon Wen milk, Rachael’s yogurts, Cadog cheese, Brains Beer, Dioni milkshakes, a number of different Braces loaves, as well as curries from Authentic Curry, Whiskey from Penderyn, more beer from Tomas Watkin & Rumney Valley as well as faggots & eggs. In all, not a bad haul at all!

Why not let us know what you think of the Welsh range in your store? Or what you think Really Welsh should tackle next?
