The Big Freeze…. an Update!!

11 January 2010

Some parts of the country woke up to a white Christmas this year, and the cold temperatures have continued throughout the month and look set to stay with us into most of January. This is not good news for our Welsh daffodils who are busy growing themselves big and yellow in time to hit shelves near you and bring a bit of colour in time for St Dwynwen's day on January 25th.

Reports from the fields tell us the daffodils are persevering despite temperatures in the minus figures. Nick our daffodil farmer had this to say "Daffodils a pretty hardy flowers and can stand the colder temperatures but prefer something warmer above 6 degrees. We're just not seeing those temperatures at the moment but are sure our daffodils will overcome these temperatures to reach vases across the land and spread a bit of Really Welsh colour". If all goes to plan, Really Welsh Daffodils will be instore in time for you to buy your loved ones a bunch for St Dwywnen's day on January 25th.

Our reporter in the field (literally) was able to bring us these latest pictures of our daffodils. It seems the weather experienced over the last two weeks has slowed things down ever so slightly. Fingers crossed then for some warmer weather and rid of these horrible freezing temperatures.
