Countdown to England v Australia
24 June 2010
After a World Twenty20 cup win by England on Sunday against Australia there are now just over two weeks till England and Australia visit Cardiff again to do battle at the SWALEC Stadium. The team here at Really Welsh are getting excited and hoping for some great cricket, much needed sunshine and Ice Cream weather.
England will be taking Australia on in a One Day International match on the 24th of June and the Glamorgan staff are busy in preparation making sure the cobwebs are cleared, bars are stocked and seating allocated. Cardiff put on a great performance for the four days of the Ashes last year, that silenced even the loudest of critics who said an Ashes test should never be held in Wales. Although the match in June will be a one day affair, the atmosphere will be electric around the city and the stadium will be full of English, Welshmen and a few Aussies for good measure, all cheering on their side.
We will of course again be out and about around the stadium from our base in the Really Welsh pavilion with a team of top Ice cream sellers on hand to offer a much needed Swirley Bassey or a Merlyn ice cream to the thousands of visitors. By the end of the four days we had sold over 1,600 pots of Really Welsh ice cream, meaning a lot of happy Aussie fans lapping up our Why, why, why Vanilla and Welsh sunshine, so let's hope for a repeat performance come June.
